Cipro website gets busy
Following concerns over its performance, the Company Intellectual Property and Registration Office (Cipro) says its website has responded well to high volumes of visits over the past month.
The website has in the past been prone to shutdowns and technical problems. In March this year, the website received from between 14 000 to 18 000 visits per day.
“The recent high volumes are as a result of transaction relating to online name reservations, close corporation registration and restoration of de registered companies. During the last week of March CIPRO reported much higher volumes of transactions on its website than an average day,” Cipro says.
Acting CEO, Lungile Dukwana, says the high number of visits were a result of last minute application on their website.
“We believe this to be as a result of a last minute rush by customers, in anticipation of the change in the legislative regime,” he explained.
However Dukwana says this proved to be a positive test of their capabilities as they move forward to the implementation of the company commission.
“These high volumes are testing the capacity of our systems and resources with very satisfactory results. It’s given us extra reassurance that we are without doubt ready to move forward to embrace the new Act and Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC)…After more than 18 months of preparation, CIPRO systems are robust and ready to transact under the new Companies Act and within the framework of the new Commission,” Dukwana stated.
According to CIPRO new registration forms will be made available to the public on the date of implementation of the new Companies Act and CIPC. All new transactional processes are described in greater detail on the CIPC website - www.cipc.co.za - which Cipro says will go live from the date of implementation.
“Great attention has been paid to the usability of the new website, ensuring customers find it convenient and user friendly,” Dukwana concluded.
