Access Centre boost for rural area

Tablets boost for rural teachers
The CSIR’s Meraka Institute, in conjunction with various government departments, has recently completed a pilot project training teachers in the Eastern Cape to use multimedia tablets, and will now begin the project rollout to approximately 160 teachers at eleven schools. The project aims to develop a model for this type of mobile technology deployment that can be applied on a wide scale throughout the country.
Mobile device malware a growing threat to smartphone users
Although security threats targeting PCs still out-number threats targeting mobile devices, smart phones and tablets have come under increasing attack in the past two years. Richard Broeke from specialist IT security provider, Securicom, says that as malicious code for mobile devices begins to generate revenue for malware authors, we can expect the number of threats to grow.

Telkom drops uncapped prices
Telkom Internet will lower the prices on its uncapped offerings effective 1 February 2013.
