Industry leaders to sit on ICT review panel
Pieter Uys, Febe Potgieter, Mothibi Ramusi and Atul Gupta are just some of the selections approved by Pule.
The panel will be divided into broadcasting, telecommunications and IT, postal, content development, digitising government, and investment and manufacturing.
Communications minister, Dina Pule, has finalised appointments to the ICT Policy Review Panel.
Former Vodacom CEO, Pieter Uys; SITA board member, Febe Potgieter; Cell C regulatory affairs head, Mothibi Ramusi and owner of the New Age, Atul Gupta are just some of the selections approved by Pule who will sit on the panel that will advise government on the creation of an Integrated National ICT Policy.
The panel will be divided into the six focus areas; broadcasting, telecommunications and IT, postal, content development, digitising government, and investment and manufacturing.
The panel’s first meeting is scheduled for January 2013, a further three meetings are scheduled for the rest of next year. The TORs for the Panel are available on the DOC website.
The panelists are Charley Lewis; academic, Shaun Pather; Calvo Mawela; Lehlohonolo Letele; former ICASA concillor, Tracy Cohen; Kerron Edmonson; Lucky Masilela; Mpho Mosimane and Sentech executive, Angeline Maseko.
Also on the panel are Johann Koster; Sizwe Lindelo Snail; etv channel head, Monde Twala; Sentech board member, Johannes (Joe) Mjwara; Lulama Nongogo; Elizabeth Lloyd; Hlukanisa Zitha; Tshilidzi Marwala and Snakes Nkateko Nyoka.
“It is humbling to receive the amount of support that we are getting from society and the industry as we seek to overhaul the ICT Policy landscape in our country…We are now a step close to developing the ICT policies that will make the country competitive and bring millions of South Africans into the knowledge and information society,” says Pule.
