Reichelt leaves CellC
CellC has announced that CEO, Lars Reichelt, would be leaving the company immediately, citing personal reasons.
Reichelt joined the mobile operator in March 2009, taking over from Jeffrey Hedberg who left CellC to join the board of Virgin Mobile South Africa.
“Lars has indicated his wish to resign for personal reasons and, after discussions about the way forward, the board has agreed to accept his resignation,” Cell C said.
The CellC board had nominated Simon Duffy, chairperson of the company, to serve as acting CEO until a successor was appointed.
Reichelt had an extensive track record in managing mobile businesses, including positions of CEO of Banglalink, Orascom’s venture in Dhaka, CEO of Telefonica 3G Mobile in Zurich, Head of Wireless for Yahoo! Europe in London, COO of mobile operator ONE in Vienna and senior consultant with Monitor Company in Milan, London and Cambridge.
During his two-and-a-half year tenure at the helm of the company, Lars has led transformation and strategically positioned Cell C for growth.
“The Cell C crew has made incredible strides over the past few years and I am very proud to have led that process. I am confident the company, supported by its strong management team, is well-positioned for continued growth, and have agreed to be available in an advisory capacity,” Reichelt said.
