“Special leave” for Communications DG
This follows comments by Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Communications that the DG had misled them on the signing of her performance agreement for the 2012/13 financial year.
Communications minister, Dina Pule, has placed the Director General of the department, Rosey Sekese, on special leave.
This follows comments by Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Communications that the DG had misled them on the signing of her performance agreement for the 2012/13 financial year.
In a statement, the department revealed that Deputy Director General, Gift Buthelezi, has been appointed as acting DG until 15 February 2013.
In October last year, Sekese told Parliament she had signed a performance agreement – but this was disproved by the Communications committee after members asked her to produce the signed performance agreement.
Committee chairperson, Eric Kholwane, noted that Sekese had produced two documents which were unidentical and didn’t have the signatures of the minister and Sekese and ruled they did not constitute a performance agreement.
