DOC opens e-Cadre applications
The Department of Communications (DOC) has opened invitations for the second phase of its e-Cadre initiative.
IT graduates are invited to apply for the programme where they will provide technical support during the service deployment component of the program and be part of the database.
Chosen applicants will be deployed for 12 months to acquire practical experience in an attempt to enhance their employment prospects.
The initiative, which was introduced in 2007 and aims to provide ICT skills training to young people - is an initiative of the DOC, the National Youth Service and 15 Further Education and Training (FET) colleges
The e-Cadre program provides young people with end-user computing training and an opportunity to acquire skills to enhance their employment prospects.
In 2008, 765 matriculants received training on the International Computer Driver Licence (ICDL) course – with the DOC spending over R8 million in training by 2009.
The initiative has three different phases – formal training, service deployment and exit strategy.
