Muthambi appointed new DOC minister

President Jacob Zuma has appointed Faith Muthambi as the new minister in the communication department replacing Yunis Carrim. The department of communication has been re-shaped comprising the Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA), The SABC, the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS), Brand SA and the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) -which will be tasked with the countries overall communication policy and strategy, information dissemination, publicity and the branding of the country abroad.
“We have established a new communications ministry which will be responsible for overarching communication policy and strategy, information dissemination and publicity, as well as the branding of the country abroad, Zuma said.
As the dust settles over the news of the news of Muthambi as the new minister, a cloud of confusion is already gathering pace. The department of communication has had over seven ministers since the Late Ivy- Matsepe Casuburri first held the post apartheid. Since her departure, no other minister has managed to complete their office term as either they got reshuffled or fired.
The outgoing Carrim replaced Pule who was fired by Jacob Zuma last year as her tenure was marred by controversy with allegation of improper conduct.
